In several hoaxed killings, a monarch butterfly is used as a hoax marker. It’s likely a Latin pun, of monarcha papilio “monarch butterfly”, with monarcha per-pallio “ruler in disguise”.

One example of the monarch butterfly hoax marker is Gabby Petito, already debunked by Miles. Another is the Uvalde shooting, also debunked by Miles.

The term pallio “disguise” is also found in English, as palliate in the meaning of “disguise” & “cover-up”.
