The name Livingstone may be a variant of Loewenstein and thus of Levi. The Stone suffix means “disguised”.
The names Loewenstein and its variants seem to be derived from Levi. I would therefore also derive Livingstone from Levi. We can get a stepwise derivation both for the -stone and -stein variants.
As of ThePeerage.com lists several hundred Livingstones, including variants that are close to Levin.
