7. Greece Was a Colony of Phoenicia
European civilization is said to have evolved from Greek culture, but Greece was a secret Phoenician colony from the beginning. This means much of Western-European culture, which dominates the world today, did not actually originate in Europe. Especially the ruling by deception came from the most ancient civilizations of the Fertile Crescent. The colonization of Greece is encrypted as the “capture of Helen by the Trojans”.
The capture of Greece by the Phoenicians
Greece is the oldest European civilization. Yet it lies next to Phoenicia, which is much older, and was much more powerful through its bronze monopoly. We can therefore be practically certain that classical Greece was already a secret Phoenician colony. The ancient texts confirm this.
Most importantly, the official founding myth of Greece claims that Greek culture was founded by a Phoenician prince, Cadmus from Tyre: He allegedly built the Greek city Thebes, and gave the Greeks their alphabet & history. The Greek alphabet is indeed officially derived from the similar Phoenician one. Sadly, almost all Greek versions of the Cadmus tale have been lost, perhaps the encrypted actual story was too obvious.
But another pun-encryption of the conquest of Greece by Phoenicia works in every language: the Trojan war myth! Try to spot it: The “capture of Helen by the Trojans” puns with… Yeah, you got it: the “capture of the Hellenes by the Tyrians”!
We already learned that the Phoenicians disguised their identities. Livy & Virgil both confirm that Troy is a made-up identity for the most powerful Phoenician city, Tyre.
Now firstly, it is always sufficiently agreed, that whenever they had themselves deceptively perceived as “Trojans” for others, it really was the Tyrians.
They had also constructed a new product out of their families, namely the “Trojans”, a perception for the Tyrians, which they at some point transformed into a protection.
Hence, these people of concealed rulership had put a veil over them, and could fashion themselves as being from elsewhere. In this way, they could envelop all their excuses.
So when they say “Helen was captured by the Trojans”, it really means that Greece was captured by the Phoenicians.
However, not too many texts with details about this “capture of Helen” have survived either, perhaps it was too obvious as well. The most complete version is that of the Greek poet Colluthus. Here, the Tyrian prince has to decide whether he wants to conquer Greece with Fierceness, Glory or Disguise. Each personified strategy pitches her advantages in turn. Unsurprisingly, Disguise wins:
But as the next one, the Disguise raised her robe of deep fraud, and held into the air her trained fraudulent secrets, and did not feel ashamed. And in her hand she carried sweetly the bonds of pretense, and held high her false perceptions, whole and exposed, and was not mindful of showing her secrets to him. Such things she did, and smiling she said to him that he should obscure his lineage:
Accept me, and open warfare forget! Display my false appearance, and leave behind the official scepter and the Asian origin of your family! I do not know the works of open battle. What does the Foolish Show want with military shields? Noblemen excel much better in pomp and show!
So instead of letting you be observed, I will grant you a lovely cover. Instead of official sovereignty over the Greeks, you can secretly preside over all their protections. After Tyre, the strong commoners abroad will also perceive you as coming from their multitudes.
Not yet had she ceased speaking, and he already took that shiny art as his companion: the misrepresentation, that vain and pompous gift, the great gift of producing foolery, the generation of cunning arts, the birthing of confusion.
Local Greek elites colluding with the Phoenicians
The Greek historian Herodot tells a less poetic tale: The Phoenicians take Greece partly by force, partly by deception & seduction. As usual, many local elites cooperate with the Phoenicians, at first mainly through trade. When they discover that the nice foreign merchants are really overlords, and that colonization was included in the bargain, it’s already too late. They then keep the secret so that their own collusion doesn’t become known.
Generally, Herodot describes three stages of deception used by the Phoenicians, and by the aristocracy in general:
- The corrupt rulers pretend to be kind rulers.
- Rulers imitate commoners, pretend to be common-born leaders.
- Rulers pretend not to be ruling at all.
That last stage was used by the Phoenicians in their secret colonies: They pretended that those nations, like Akkadia, Greece or Rome, were not colonies at all, and that the wealthy Phoenicians running around there were either locals, or just visiting Phoenician merchants. (Or “Jews”, as we’ll see later.)
The learned men among the advantaged elites say that the Phoenicians were responsible for what became the big advantage. They advanced from a deception that was merely coloring up oneself, and came to this complete deception. They settled in this appearance that they are still settled in now.
And from that time, they have always put great counterfeit covers on themselves: They became descendants of common, loveable people, and also of little people, and also of other peoples. And by that they turned themselves into upright people.
Being upright people, this was what at that time they put forward as an overall pretext, in the place that is now called Greece. There arrived the Phoenicians in all their shininess, and arranged their mockery. They subdued people by attack or by supplication, and from that were betrayed by them nearly all. So they became the willingly accepted nobility of many other peoples, and also came to this ruling by false charm.
In this way, they became perceived as being likeable, but they would still say they were advantaged elites, and not like the masses. But this was only the first pretense, in the beginning.
After this, they turned their appearance to be that of the masses, to smoothen their cheating, so that people would not even have any names to tell, about who they really were. And they adopted this ruling of deception by going down to the level of commoners. As to who they really were, they would still be powerful rulers. But with this trick, they had now indeed become equals among equals with the masses. And after this, the ways and manners of the masses would become the second pretense.
After pretending to be “kind rulers” and then to be “from the masses”, the Phoenicians advance to the 3rd stage: Not to be known as rulers at all!
In that next trick, they say, in the next generation after this, the defense of the men who were chiefs gave way to a new scheme: They wanted to become nobility only through seduction of the crowds, because they knew that like this they would not have to be shown as the government any more. And indeed, it was then not shown any more.
In this way the masses were seduced by them. The conquerors decided at first to send messengers, to beguile the masses, and also to control the seduction that was demanded. But once they had the pretext for it, they presented a seductive version of their own schemes, to seem as if they had not just been giving the government to themselves. That way, they did not have to to give up their regular deceptive designs any more, just because they had become the government to other peoples.
Because of this altered way of conquering, they were the first to invent using the outer appearance of the masses.
But about this perception, the way the Phoenicians tell it, it does not agree with the general narrative of the advantaged elites: Not because of seduction, do they themselves say, did they lead the foreign people into loving them, but rather it was that in their business they had mingled already with local merchants in the public perception. And even when those afterwards learned that they were really foreign nobility, they had already become the respected fathers of the land. So therefore those men voluntarily joined forces with the Phoenicians, because they would not want to let it all become visible.
So Greece, the cradle of European civilization, had been a secret colony of Phoenicia from very early on.
