Virgil: Founding of Rome

🏷  Latin hidden ruler interlinear phoenix recommended · text   —   by Gerry · Aug 2023 · 19911 words

The Aeneid by Virgil reveals that Rome was actually founded by Phoenicians, namely the Tyrians. They needed a fortification to loot Italy’s resources. But because native people hated them everywhere, and Italy’s tribes opposed the invasion, they reinvented themselves as “Romans”. They bribed local rulers to help them root out the resistance, and let the traitors marry into the Tyrian clans as a reward. This explains the stellar rise of Rome as a superpower out of nowhere. Livy’s history tells the same story.

Introduction

The Aeneid is an epic by the Roman poet Vergilius, about how Rome was founded by the Trojan hero Aeneas. Since there’s no mentioning of that in the Greek myths about Troy, even modern mainstream historians had to admit it’s just made-up. It’s now explained as the Romans trying to bolster up their heritage by linking themselves to the much more ancient Greeks, while they really developed out of local tribes. But that’s also not credible, as it cannot explain Rome’s spectacular rise. For more details, see the discussion of Livy’s history.

The Aeneid as a text is also odd. Right after the introduction, the story starts with a colony of the Phoenician city-state Tyre: “There was a city in antiquity, a Tyrian colony”. The authors then go through lengthy mental gymnastics to fit Tyre into the narrative: Carthage is a Tyrian colony, the goddess Juno somehow loves Carthage, Carthage is foretold to be destroyed by Rome, Rome is foretold to be founded by Trojans, so Juno fights the Trojan refugees to save her “Tyrian towers”.

If the Romans wanted to bolster their heritage, then that’s the most convoluted & garbled story they could come up with! What does Tyre have to do with Rome? Officially, nothing. Inofficially, probably everything.

If Rome had really been founded by refugees or local tribes, then it couldn’t have become a global empire within such a short timespan. But if Rome had been a “Tyrian colony” all along, like in the first sentence of the Aeneid story, then this would be the most natural outcome: Tyre was already a global empire, and the Tyrian overlords would simply have shifted headquarters.

And indeed, when you pun-decrypt the Aeneid, it tells of a secret Tyrian invasion of Italy, just like Livy’s history. In the literal story, Juno seeks to repel an invasion of Italy. In the secret story, the Tyrians secretly carry out an invasion of Italy. These are the stages I decrypted so far:

Just like Livy’s history, the Aeneid pun-encrypts Rome’s founding by using Greek names from Trojan myths. But since the Aeneid is a mythical text where everything goes, it can draw on many more arbitrary names. These are the most important puns:

How to read this

Tyrians invade Italy in disguise

The Tyrians need a colony to possess Italy’s tribal lands for resources.

This first sentence already contains the entire secret about the rise of Rome: The Tyrians, already the mightiest superpower on the planet, founded Rome as a colony, to loot Italy’s resources. That’s why Rome seemingly started out of nothing from barbarian backwater regions, and then became a globalized superpower itself. In reality, it was a superpower colony all along, and eventually all power was transferred to these new headquarters. Like with Great Britain and the USA.

Even the official, literal story starts with Tyre having a colony, which should be suspicious enough: It’s Italiam contra Tiberinaque longe ostia “in Italy opposite the Tiber’s long mouth”, rich in its works, but fierce in war. That Tyrian colony is Karthago “Carthage”, and for some strange reason the authors explain the struggle about the founding of Rome with the goddess Iuno “Juno” wanting to protect Carthage. Because she loves Carthage so that she posthabita coluisse Samo “cares less for Samos” than Carthage. A weird phrase, they probably mean the Hera temple on Samos.

Pun-encryption explains it: There was a Tyrian colony, but it was inside Italy, and it was Rome itself! It was set up Italiam contra tribunique longe hostilia “in Italy to oppose the tribesmen’s longstanding hostility”, because those tribal lands were rich in its resources, but fierce in war! That Tyrian colony was perhaps quaero tego “to get protection”, though that pun isn’t very good. It’s very realistic however, because we know the Tyrian aeno “bronze” traders always wanted to posthabita coluisse sumo “conquer, settle & obtain” resource-rich lands, and needed fortifications for that.

Aeneid 1.15

This colony will be headquarters for their armies, ships & wealth.

In the literal story, Juno plans to make Carthage the center of her arma “arms” & currus “chariots”, and the center of the kingdom of the dea “goddess” over all nations. That is also weird, as I’m not aware of any Juno worship in Carthage. They probably mean that Tanit is Juno or something.

In the encrypted story, the Tyrians plan to make their new colony in Italy the center of their arma “armies” & carinis “ships”, and the center of their kingdom of ditia “wealth” over all nations. That’s pretty much how it played out: Rome became their military, naval & financial headquarters, from which they conquered large parts of the world.

Aeneid 1.16

The Tyrians invent the “Trojans”, and pretend to come from elsewhere.

In the literal story, it’s foretold that a progeniem “progeny” race, named as the “Trojans”, will spring from the ancestral families, which one day will verteret arces “destroy the arcs” of Tyre in Carthage. These people will be of late regem belloque superbum “royal & warlike proud bearing”.

In the encrypted story, a progeniem “progeny” race, named the “Trojans”, is made up by the Tyrians, which one day will verteret arces “transform into a protection”, i.e. a disguise for them. This made-up identity will spread late regem veloque superabam “concealed rulership & veils over” them.

Now the ruins we call Troy are real, and that city may actually have been called Troy, or not. But the story about the Trojan war is obviously a fable, possibly pun-encrypted. And Rome being founded by Trojan refugees, that is absolute bogus. Mainstream historians even admit it today. My current guess is that the Trojan war myth was made-up independently, but the Tyrians later reused it for their founding of Rome myth, because “Trojans” puns with “Tyrians”.

Aeneid 1.19

Aeneid 1.21

The rich remember how previous veils made the multitudes obedient.

In the literal story, the Saturnia “Saturnian” goddess remembers earlier belli “wars”, which she had pro caris gesserat “waged for her loved ones”, against Troiam “Troy”. Then her anger dissapears, and she only remembers the iudicium Paridis “judgement of Paris”. A strange choice of words.

In the encrypted story, the satura “rich” Tyrians remember earlier veli “veils”, which they had pro choris gesserat “worn in front of the multitudes”, around their Tyriam “Tyrian” identity. Then the crowds’ anger would dissapeared, and they’d only have the iudicium paretis “desire to obey” their masters!

They present a false image to obtain Italy’s bronze.

In the literal story, the Trojans in altum vela dabant “give sail in the deep sea”, laeti “cheerfully” and spumas salis aere “on the foaming ocean with bronze” (!) prows. Juno keeps her emotional volnus “wounds” forever, and seeks to Teucrorum avertere regem “avert the Teucrian rulers” of Troy from Italy.

In the encrypted story, the Tyrians in alterum vela dabant “present an altered veil”, to latui “secretly” and saepimus salus aere “securely dress up the bronze” conquest. They keep their volens “intentions” secret forever, and seek to decreveram invertere regem “change into the rulers of contending” Italy themselves.

Note: Not all puns are very clear here, but it’s a huge giveaway that the authors included the word aerarius for “bronze”, even though it doesn’t really fit into the text. Secretly, it could refer to Italy’s ore resources, or the Tyrian bronze traders, or their banking business, or the lower class insurgents, all of which used this word.

Aeneid 1.36

They escape vengeance with a fake cover.

In the literal story, Juno feels vetor fatis “opposed by the fates”. She recalls how Pallasne exurere classem Argivum “Pallas burned the fleet of the Argives”, and submerged them into the pontus “sea”, because of Aiacis Oilei “Ajax of Oileus”, and how she had Iovis rapidum e nubibus “rapidly hurled from the clouds Jove’s” firebolts.

In the secret story, the Tyrians vow to defeat the vetor fatuis “opposition by fooling”. They plan to have a pallasne exorirere clausum arguam “mantle of appearances enclose their show”, and submerge themselves to escape from punitus “vengeance”, with this iocis aulaei “joke covering”, and how they will hurl iuves repudiem e nubibus “scorn & jokes on the servants from the veil”.

Note: I’m not sure what the ignem “fire” is supposed to pun with. It may be something with false agnomen “names” & “characteristics”. Or it could even point to the punnery itself, which is also called agnomination.

Aeneid 1.39

Encrypted: Indeed we will oppose them by fooling. A mantle of appearance will enclose this show, and we ourselves are able to submerge from vengeance, together against injury and fury, with a joke covering.

The rulers wear a veil, to be one with the people as a joke.

In the literal story, the one hit by the firebolts had his expirantem “breathing organ pierced”, a turbine corripuit “whirlwind snatched” him, and he was scopuloque infixit acuto “impaled on a sharp rock”. Juno vows as one of the ruling divom “gods”, being of Jove soror et coniunx “sister & wife”, and “one with the people”, to tot annos bella gero “wage war for many years” on the Trojans.

In the encrypted story, the lower classes are to be exuperantem “overpowered”, by turbine corrumpit “confusion & corruption” and to be sepelioque in finxit acto “suppressed by an act of pretense”. The Tyrians vow as rulers of divitum “wealth”, to be “one with the people” only in a serar et con iocis “contrived & joking” act, and to tot annos vela gero “wear a veil for many years”.

It turned out that they had to wear that veil forever. They even added new ones on top.

Aeneid 1.46

No one will attack the bronze traders after they become other people.

In the literal story, Juno wonders if anyone will numen Iunonis adoret “worship the divinity Juno” afterwards, or supplex aris imponet honorem “supply honors to place on her altar”. Juno then seeks help at the place where volutans nimborum in patriam “storms roll into the fatherland”, and that of the furentibus austris “raging south winds”, which is Aeoliam “Aeolia”, the kingdom of winds.

In the encrypted story, the Tyrians surmise that with their disguise, no one can nomen aenonis adoriret “attack the name of the bronze” traders afterwards, and everyone will instead supplex aeraris imponet onerem “kneel to the oppression imposed by the bronze” traders. They then plan to velatus nimborum in patrem “veil off the multitudes in this performance”, and permanently become fraudabas histris “fraudulent actors”, which is to say aliam “other” people.

Local ruler joins Tyrians as traitor

In disguise, they put resisting subjects in chains & prisons.

Little punnery is needed here.

In the literal story, king Aeolus, god of the winds, suppresses the luctantes ventos tempestatesque “struggling winds & storms” by his command, restraining them in chains & prisons.

In the encrypted story, after having become alius “others”, i.e. local rulers, the Tyrians seek to suppress the luctantes venenatus tempestatesque “dangerous opposing multitudes” by their command, restraining them in chains & prisons.

They institute another local ruler, to calm & control the locals.

In the literal story, the indignant winds are controlled by Aeolus , seated above them in a arce “tower”, “to calm their souls and to control their anger”. If he doesn’t do this, the maria ac terra caelumque “seas & lands & heavens” would run off quickly, and sweep everything away.

In the secret story, the indignant populations are to be controlled by alius “another” ruler, presumably a local, to be seated above them as a arce “preotection” for the Tyrians, “to calm their souls and to control their anger”. If they didn’t do this, the local maria ac terra calonumque “men & territories & servants” would run off quickly, and sweep them away.

Aeneid 1.58

This ruler knows when to repress & relax, with his overlords hidden.

In the literal story, the omnipotens “all-powerful” Aeolus has hidden the winds in speluncis “caves” in the dark, and has placed molemque et montis “cliffs & mountains” above them. They had been given a ruler who would “know when to repress and to relax”, and how to hold their reigns.

In the encrypted story story, the omnipotens “all-powerful” Tyrian overlords are hidden in hideout speluncis “dens” in the dark, and have placed molemque et montis “armies & fortifications” between them and the local populations. The people are then given a local ruler who will “know when to repress and to relax”, and how to hold their reigns.

The bronze traders give the rebels to this ruler for control.

In the encrypted story, the Tyrians say to the local ruler that they, the divitum pater “wealthy patricians”, will give him the fluctuas “agitated” people, to mulcere “beat” them, and to tollere vanitas “deceptively eliminate” them.

The Tyrians promise to let the local traitor marry into their clans.

In the literal story, Juno offers up one of her praestanti corpore nymphae “nymphs of excellent figure”, the one who is forma pulcherrima “fairest in form”, as a wife for Aeolus. Juno promises that she will annos exigat “spend the years” with him, and make him a prole parentem “father of children” who will be pulchra “beautiful” like her.

In the encrypted story, the Tyrians offer up one of their praestanti corpore nymphae “brides of excellent standing”, the one who is forma pulcherrima “noblest in kind”, as a wife for the traitor. They promise that they will annuis exigat “enforce this designation”, and make all proletarii parentem “proletarians his subjects”, and him a true pulchra “noble”.

Obviously, all traitors who were suitable allies for the invading Tyrians were already local nobles & rulers. They’d also already have plenty of good-looking wives & mistresses. The actual bribe here is to marry into the Tyrian clans, and get a share of their insane wealth & power.
