Talmud: Kilayim
The Talmud tractate Kilayim specifies which fruits & vegetables must not be planted near each other, for fear of unlawful contamination. Beneath the pun-encryption, it specifies which public offices must not officially be given to members of the same family, because it would expose the corruption & nepotism.
Introduction
Kilayim is a Talmud tractate about “forbidden mixtures”, mostly fruits & vegetables that must not be planted & placed near each other. It is especially weird because for many of these old names, it is today unknown which plant specifically was meant. And as usual with Talmudic laws, there is no apparent reason why planting them near each other would be so terrible, and there is also no explanation.
Under the hood the text is of course pun-encrypted, and is really about people. It tells which titles & offices must not publicly placed near other: The most important law is that politics & financial profiteering mustn’t be publicly connected, because then everyone would see the ruling elites as the vast nepotist network that they’ve always been. Even truthers think that “ze Jeeews” invented usury, and that they used this to take over traditional aristocratic empires. In reality, this doesn’t work. All bankers need the goons-with-sticks power first, to force people to pay up those ridiculous interest fees for their out-of-air money. So financial power was always built on top of traditional aristocratic military power, it had to be. The Kilayim laws ensured that regular people could never see that.
Encryption-wise, the Kilayim chapter is special because the names for both vegetables & office titles are often foreign loanwords, from Latin Latin & Greek, so they don’t have the traditionel “Hebrew” feel to them like other Talmud chapters.
